NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sam Varga releases pop punk anthem “Dark Arts” to streaming services everywhere today, Friday, June 3. In true Varga fashion, he rallied his best friends to ink the feel good tune with co-writers Spencer Jordan (KNOX/John Harvie) and Caleb Oczowski (Natalia Taylar) Caleb joined Dan Swank (All Time Low/Cassadee Pope) for production.

“This is actually how I talk and probably a good idea of what it’s like to date me. This whole song is kinda like Mark Wahlberg’s character in ‘The Other Guys’. Everything I know about astrology started out as me making fun of it. Now I am astutely aware of when retrograde hits and that according to Vedic astrology I’m a Scorpio but in terms of western astrology I’m a Sag which explains a lot. It’s all in good fun,” shares Varga

Sam is an emo-kid turned alt-country poet whose alchemy of punk dynamics and Nashville sonics makes for an addictive kind of hurt. Varga found himself in rock exile in Nashville, writing country songs while simultaneously helping spear head the local emo resurgence at emo nights around Nashville. Realizing he didn’t have to choose between the two genres, he began putting his Nashville lyrical chops to work over the more dynamic and distorted music of his earlier days.
