Driven by soulful guitars, the powerfully honest track allows Sam’s vocals to shine through and take center stage. With a mixture of pain, strength, and hope, he sings, “You can steal from a thief, I’ll act like I believe, but you can’t fool your own blood.”
“This song is about living with adversity. I sing about family drama that we all experience and grapple with,” says Sam. “One thing that will never serve you well is lying to someone you love. That can only lead to turmoil. ‘Can’t Fool Your Own Blood’ is about being a pattern breaker and taking control of your own fate. Being at war with oneself is the greatest battle.”
Last month, Sam shared a brand new song, “SHUTEYE,” about the sorrow and guilt that keeps you up at night. “SHUTEYE” was preceded by “The World: Alone,” a song he wrote in honor of his late sister Katie Williams’ 28th birthday. Though the song was written over a year ago, “The World: Alone” took on a new meaning for Williams in the wake of Katie’s passing as he reflected on the fragility of life.
