NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Amerimonte Records recording artist Shane Owens was presented the Independent Artist of the Year Award at MusicRow Magazine’s 16th Annual “Country Radio Meet & Greet” and “Country Breakout Awards” which were held at the Listening Room in Nashville on Monday, February 5. Last year’s winner of the Independent Artist of the Year was Aaron Watson. Awards are based on spins the artists get on the magazine’s panel of reporting stations which is widely regarded in the country industry as the one to watch for breaking new artists and records. The reporting stations are heavily weighted toward secondary markets — friendlier to independent artists.
