NASHVILLE, TENN. – Up-and-coming artist, Colton Flanagan releases his latest single, “Back to Memphis.” The heartfelt song gives listeners the perspective of a long-distance relationship. Running every red light, there’s only 100 miles standing between two people. Listen here.
Born in Lexington, TN located right between Memphis and Nashville, Flanagan grew to love music and playing guitar. Living only 100 miles from Memphis, Flanagan plays the Tin Roof on Beale Street often. Continuing his career playing gigs around Tennessee, the singer has opened for Corey Smith and Sean Stemaly who advised Flanagan to title this track “Back to Memphis” the day he opened for him on tour.
Flanagan says, “Back to Memphis” is about having a distant relationship with someone that’s not too far to just up and go to them when you can’t resist seeing them. You do whatever it takes to go back to Memphis.” When an audience is able to relate to a song, it takes them on a journey through the thoughts and emotions of being with that person. Music truly knows no distance, especially when it comes to “Back to Memphis.”
Quickly making a name for himself, Flanagan worked with well-known producer and songwriter, Davis Branch who had cuts with artists Sean Stemaly, Ryan Robinette, Ty March, and more. As the two songwriters expanded their ideas, their artistic visions aligned.
Hoping to make the move to Music City soon, Flanagan balances a full-time job and playing two to four shows a weekend. Reflecting on two long years without releasing any of his own original music, Flanagan recorded and released “Close Call at Last Call,” this past September, and is excited to release his latest single on November 5.
