Twenty-four young adults who have been diagnosed with cancer or a chronic blood disorder will receive a college scholarship at a drive-up college themed tailgate
NASHVILLE, TN – Platinum-selling band, Sister Hazel’s charity foundation, Lyrics for Life is honored to partner with the Children’s Cancer Center in Tampa, FL and the Minutolo Family in presenting over $35,000 in college scholarships. Twenty-four applicants will be awarded on Thursday, May 28th at a socially-distanced drive-up college themed tailgate. All recipients are young adults who have been diagnosed with cancer or a chronic blood disorder before the age of twenty-one. Ken Block, Sister Hazel front man and the founder of Lyrics for Life, and the Minutolo Family will join the Children’s Cancer Center staff and board members to present each applicant with their scholarship. Ken Block will be presenting one of the top applicants with a $5,000 scholarship, out of his $20,000 donation, in honor of his brother, Jeffery, who lost his battle with cancer at the age of eighteen.
“We’re so honored to be able to support these incredible young people,” expressed Block. “It’s so exciting watching them take their next step forward as they head to college. After navigating and overcoming everything they’ve had to deal with – they are so deserving of all the amazing things that a college experience brings.”
