#StrongSong Campaign Featured Through
Fan Fair X & Omni Hotel Activations
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For a second year, Sony Music Nashville and Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, continued their community engagement collaboration during CMA Fest, bringing together Nashville’s country music community and fans to support and educate people facing cancer.
During the four-day event (June 6-9), Band Against Cancer sought to engage with tens of thousands of country music fans from around the world through activations at Fan Fair X at the Music City Center and across the street at Omni Nashville Hotel, both in downtown Music City.
Central to the onsite activation was the Strong Song campaign, which invites fans to identify an empowering song that can serve as an uplifting source for someone facing cancer or anyone seeking strength through the power of music. These Strong Song submissions are added to a user-generated Band Against Cancer playlist, which is accessible to anyone using the Spotify platform.
To create deeper grassroots engagement, fans staying at the Omni Hotel were greeted by mirror clings in their rooms that invited them to jot down their own Strong Song with a dry erase marker and then take a selfie with #StrongSongSweepstakes for a chance to win tickets to next year’s Fest. Additionally, Omni guests were invited to take photos at a special Band Against Cancer mural placed in the hotel lobby, which was created by viral sensation and acclaimed street artist Kelsey Montague, with music headphones that symbolize the movement’s willingness to listen to those seeking help during the cancer journey. Additionally, the Omni Hotel’s Bongo Java created a specialty beverage for the occasion and fans escaped frequent rain showers for a sip of the #StrongSong Latte.
At Fan Fair X, Band Against Cancer engaged with fans through Sony Music Nashville’s interactive backyard-themed booth. The Strong Song Happy Hours gave fans a chance to win tickets / meet + greets to see Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Kane Brown, Old Dominion, and Miranda Lambert; and signed swag from Tim McGraw (guitar), Brooks & Dunn (album / prize pack), and Lambert (hat).
Band Against Cancer artist ambassadors Mitchell Tenpenny and The Sisterhood Band were among the Sony Nashville NextGen artists that spent time meeting with fans. In addition, a record number of fans had access to @BandAgainstCancer on Instagram for live coverage of CMA Fest.
“CMA Fest provides a unique opportunity to connect directly with fans and engage them with our artists and programs that are important to the core of who they are, like Band Against Cancer,” said Nicole Marinake, Sony Music Nashville Sr. Director, Partnership Marketing and New Business. “The fans are unlike any other event. They want to support programs that matter to our artists and help to make a greater impact on the community through important causes.”
