How do you say goodbye to someone who brought so much joy, light and love into this world?
For decades, I’ve had the privilege of playing Dolly’s music and sharing her stories with millions of listeners. We fell in love to her songs. We cried to them. We found courage in them. And when life hurt and we couldn’t find the words, somehow Dolly found them for us.
She had one of the most recognizable voices in the world, but it was her heart that made her unforgettable. She was funny, tender, gracious, deeply rooted in her faith and always beautifully herself.
Dolly never forgot where she came from. When God blessed her abundantly, she turned around and blessed others. Just think of how many lives are better because Dolly Parton was here.
Dolly, thank you for the music, the laughter, your kindness and your beautiful heart. Thank you for giving us songs to hold onto and for reminding us that you can shine brightly without ever dimming someone else’s light.
