Nashville, TN – Stephanie Urbina Jones will bring her exciting, inspiring and innovative sound, called “Honky Tonk Mariachi,” to “Honky Tonk Tuesday” at the American Legion Post 82 (3204 Gallatin Road) on Tuesday, April 23 at 8:00pm.
Urbina Jones’ latest studio album, Tularosa, is an inspired marriage of country classics with mariachi, named for the place where it was recorded. Tularosa honors Urbina Jones’ musical icons — a string of legends from Dolly, Patsy, Willie, and Merle to Johnny and June — and the Mexican heritage that feeds her sound and soul.
Urbina Jones, a San Antonio native, is well-known for celebrating her Hispanic heritage through her music, which can be described as Latin-rooted Americana, or “Texicana country folk-rock.”
Indie Voice Blog states, “Stephanie Urbina Jones is a true visionary, for who else would have thought of marrying classic country with mariachi. Jones has done just that, and earned the right to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.” Rolling Stone proclaimed her version of “Rose Garden,” “A stunning makeover, breathing new life into one of the most heavily covered songs in the country catalog.”
