Sylvia Aimee’s New Single “Dim Your Light” Is Bittersweet Ode To Inner Child

On Thursday, February 3rd Sylvia Aimee released her intimate country pop ballad
“Dim Your Light”: A bittersweet ode to her inner child about losing her light,
getting dimmed by the world over time

Who were you before the world told you who you’re supposed to be?

With “Dim Your Light” Sylvia looks back on her younger self. She watches herself build walls around her heart as she grows older and wishes she could let that little girl know she is perfect the way she is. I just wanna hold her tight and say “don’t let this world dim your light”, she sings at the end of the chorus.

“Writing “Dim Your Light” has helped me reconnect with the little girl in me and for that I am very grateful. I can learn a lot from her.”

A personal journey continues with the EP Identity.

“Dim Your Light” gives you an intimate look into Sylvia’s life and how it has shaped her into the young woman she is today. The theme of the song is very much in line with the concept EP Identity, of which “Dim Your Light” is the third single. Sylvia will get back into the studio soon to finish this EP, scheduled to be fully released later this year.

Sylvia Aimee is a Country Pop artist born and raised in The Netherlands. She is one of the few brave singer-songwriters fighting against the odds in trying to bring the Nashville sound to Europe. Her sound is inspired by female artists like Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini and Carly Pearce.

Music has always been Sylvia’s lifeline, making sense of life and finding her place in this world through writing songs. Her lyrics are unfiltered and brutally honest. She’s not afraid to be vulnerable and show you her dark sides. Mental illness, loneliness and feeling the odd one out are topics often addressed in her lyrics. But there’s always a spark of hope and optimism shining through them. Her songs are personal yet universal and will make you feel less alone.

She already performed on Dutch national television and radio, recorded three singles in Nashville, participated  in Dutch TV talent show ‘The Best Singer-Songwriter Of The Netherlands’ (De Beste Singer-Songwriter van Nederland) and released her debut EP “Superhero” in October 2019. She’s currently working hard on her second EP Identity, one even more personal and unfiltered than her previous releases.
