“A rowdy Texas shuffle and a song about drownin’ our heartache with beer and whiskey on a Saturday night….We know it’s not the answer, but sometimes you gotta get wrong before you get right,” Gethen said to Taste of Country about the song and video.
Directed by Lior Molcho (Sia, Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots) for Neon Cat Productions, the upbeat clip was shot in Los Angeles and features extensive performances by Gethen and his band. Gethen wrote “Bottle In My Hand” solo, and the track and his upcoming full album were produced by four-time GRAMMY Award winner Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Jack White, Old 97’s and Buddy Guy) for the Five Music Company label.
Gethen will make a rare Nashville appearance, when he performs at The Basement music venue at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9. The visit will also see him making stops at local and national radio shows, streaming services and media interviews.
A native of Huntington WV, Jenkins was raised in a rural Alaskan Indian village and spent eight years in the Marines before settling in Southern California. “Bottle In My Hand” is the first glimpse into the soul of the 6’5” mountain of a man whose songs are of considerable depth and meaning, driven by passion, and full of heart and spirit, which are sure to run the gamut of human emotions.
