Performed Impromptu Rendition Of “Mayday” With Cam At Her Camp During Stagecoach
Nashville, TN – 13-year-old country vocalist TEGAN MARIE made her Stagecoach country music festival debut to great acclaim in Indio, CA, last Sunday (4/30). The rising star played a 30-minute set treating fans to a couple new songs she co-wrote, “So Do You” and “Roots,” debut single “Lucky Me” and her well-loved version of Florida Georgia Line’s #1 smash “H.O.L.Y.” Marie also put her own stamp on covers of Kelsea Ballerini’s “Yeah Boy,” The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down” (feat. Daya) and a mash-up of The Band Perry’s “Done” with Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” to round out the set. Critics praised her performance with USA Today hailing, “Marie has the personality and the voice of a future star, and she definitely has the always hard-to-define ‘It.’” In addition, she was featured in Rolling Stone’s best of Stagecoach photo gallery and The Desert Sun’s “50 Stagecoach takeaways.”
After her Stagecoach performance, Marie ran into one of her favorite artists Cam backstage. The GRAMMY-nominated singer graciously invited Marie back to her camp (dubbed “Cam’s Camp”) and the two performed an impromptu rendition of “Mayday.” Nearly a year prior, Marie covered the single from her home in Flint, MI, receiving over 1.4 million Facebook views.
The young country starlet’s exciting trip to California also included a stop by the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards to present her idol Kelsea Ballerini in Los Angeles on Saturday (4/29). Featured on a number of “Best Dressed” lists post-awards, Marie – aiming for a “country princess” look – spun heads on the red carpet in her Rami Kadi dress.
On Monday (5/1), Marie visited the Academy of Country Music offices in Encino, CA, and performed a five-song set. Her excursion concluded with a stop by NBC’s The Voice to meet country superstar Blake Shelton. Gwen Stefani was on-hand too and snapped a video of the country newcomer yodeling for her Instagram Story to which Shelton responded, “Now that’s country!”
