Written by Fister, this song is a reminiscent ode to her childhood home. When she got the phone call from her mom that she was selling the house she grew up in, the memories came flooding back. “I became overcome with gratitude remembering every inch of my bedroom, and remembering the feeling of the carpet digging in on my legs from practicing guitar for so long. The carpet and my legs had become one,” remembers Fister.
Since writing Home, Fister’s mom passed away. She began thinking of how she could honor her in this song and decided to include one of her mother’s voicemails that she had saved. While putting the final touches on the song, “I realized what the song needed at the end was my mom and after three minutes later of adding it to the mix, there’s mom telling me she loves me over my song. This is something that will live on forever in a piece of music and I am beyond proud to call it my own.”
Produced by Christopher Griffiths, this song hits home to any listener and reminisces on the days of their childhood and the house they grew up in, longing to relive the simpler and innocent times by being in the atmosphere of their childhood. Fister’s soft and somber voice compliments the nostalgic tone of the single presenting an angelic and vulnerable side to the edgy artist’s persona. Her descriptive lyrics provide a sense of imagery throughout the song, painting a vivid picture of her upbringing. Varying from her usual sound, Fister says, “I love this song because of the space in it. I love the ominous weird spacey steel parts that hold the song together in this nostalgic cloud, and I love the simplicity of the acoustic guitar repeating the same three strings over and over again.”
While getting back to some socially-distant live shows, she has been interacting with her fans on a regular basis across her social media platforms. Whether she is performing her own Facebook Live shows or joining in on other pages or even doing Instagram takeovers, there is still something about being on that stage and seeing her fans one on one that she misses. “There’s nothing like getting out there on stage and interacting with these fans. Yes, we can do some of that on social media, but it’s not the same. I’m ready to get back out on the road full time.”
