Full Album ‘Heaven Down Here’ Out in January
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country supergroup Texas Hill (Craig Wayne Boyd, Casey James, Adam Wakefield) showcases their bluesy side in playful new single “Up One Side,” available now. Country Now treated fans to the first listen of the tune, calling it “a cleverly seductive track that finds Texas Hill’s Adam Wakefield, Craig Wayne Boyd, and Casey James feeling the euphoria of a passionate romance.” The song, written by Casey James with James LeBlanc and Phillip White, has been a fresh addition to the band’s live shows this year and has quickly become a fan favorite.

“The band took a writing trip down to Muscle Shoals last year, and “Up One Side” is one of my favorites that came out of it,” explained Casey James to Country Now. “It’s a lighthearted, fun loving song I wrote with James LeBlanc and Phillip White. I was tinkering around with some bluesy licks on the guitar as we were getting situated, and James lit up and said ‘let’s write that.’ In the midst of a bunch of deep and meaningful songs we had written that week, it just seemed like the right time to write something with a playful element. The album is generally a pretty nice mixture of the three of us, but between the bluesy feel and old school Texas Saloon vibe, this tune leans my direction more than any of the others.”
This single comes after the announce of Texas Hill’s anticipated debut studio album Heaven Down Here, releasing January 21, 2022. The 12-track project, which further the band’s soul-soaked, in-your-face harmonies, includes previously released tunes from their self-titled debut EP plus five new tracks. Heaven Down Here is now available for digital pre-order HERE.
The trio first began writing and performing together in 2019 and announced the band publicly in June of 2020 via Billboard. Since then, Texas Hill has found a fan in anyone that takes the time to listen. American Songwriter recently mused that, “despite their unique strengths, the combination of these three artists works—and it works exceptionally well.” “Hearing our voices blend together was something that got us all excited and, from that point on, we have been 100% resolved to make it happen,” James told Billboard.
“All three of us were thrust into situations where millions of people made snap judgements on our talent and ability in 90 seconds, and that’s why this project has been so cathartic for us. There are so many things we’re proud of on this record. I think the one I’m most proud of is how diverse and raw it is. At a time where new music coming out of ‘Music City’ can be formatted and predictable, we let the music lead; and it took us to a lot of different places. There are elements of Blues, R&B, Country, Southern Rock and even Latin influences on this mama-jama. I think there’s something for everyone on here,” says Adam Wakefield of the band’s process on this album.
