GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The 19th Annual John Jarrard Foundation Songwriter Show presented by The Northeast Health System, will be live-streamed from the Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tennessee tonight at 8/7c. This fundraising event, which annually takes place at Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga. has been moved this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Viewers can log on to the web to see four prolific songwriters perform hit song after hit song and the stories behind them.
Friday, Oct. 23rd at 8 pm Eastern / 7 pm Central, people will be able to tune in to watch the online concert featuring live performances from No. 1 hit songwriters Phil Vassar, Tony Arata, Lee Thomas Miller, and Wendell Mobley. The Bluebird Café in Nashville has gained a reputation for hosting sold-out shows from both up-and-coming and renowned songwriters. The foundation’s concert has previously been held in-person on Brenau University’s front lawn in Gainesville, Ga. to over 2,000 live attendees.
Jody Jackson, executive director of the John Jarrard Foundation, said people can expect to hear songs written for country artists such as Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Chris Stapleton, Kenny Chesney, and more.
“Wendell Mobley, one of the songwriters in this year’s concert, wrote several songs with Jarrard, including #1 Hit song “We Can’t Love Like This Anymore” by Alabama,” said Jackson. “We’re truly fortunate to have this amazing group of songwriters on this show. All of these guys knew and loved John back in the day when songwriters helped make Nashville the Music City. They are some of Nashville’s most prolific songwriters and happen to be really fun guys on stage.”
“In the past 18 years it’s gotten bigger and better,” Jackson said. “It’s a disappointment to be without a live crowd this year, but we decided it would be the safest and best thing to do. The great news is we’re going to be able to reach people who have never heard of the John Jarrard Foundation and also perform live from the greatest songwriter venue in the world.”
The concert honors the memory of John Jarrard, a Gainesville, Ga. native who died in 2001 after a long battle with Type 1 diabetes. Before his death, Jarrard wrote 11 #1 hit songs performed by country artists including Alabama, George Strait, Don Williams, and Tracy Lawrence. He was inducted posthumously into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2010.

“While people watch the show”, Jackson said, “they will have an option to click the donate button which will appear on screen”. Sponsorships are available on the foundation’s website, ranging in price from $600 to $2,500. The Northeast Health System recently stepped up as the concert’s main Presenting Sponsor.
