Today, The Kentucky Gentlemen share “Neon Cowboy,” the pair’s first single since their 2022 debut EP The Kentucky Gentlemen: Vol. 1. Featuring the duo’s signature harmonies over a ‘90s country-meets-pop beat, “Neon Cowboy” is a free-spirited, honky tonk-ready country bop. The accompanying music video celebrates the long tradition of Black Rodeo Culture with clips from a recent Southeastern Rodeo Association event interspersed with shots of the duo in classic Nashville fringe and rhinestones.

The Kentucky Gentlemen on their new single: “’Neon Cowboy’ is an anthem of liberation and embracing the carefree spirit within us. It captures the essence of breaking free from the constraints of everyday life and immersing ourselves in the joy of the present moment. Because everybody has a little Neon Cowboy in them and deserves to revel in the exhilarating feeling of being alive.”
On the accompanying music video: “We have immense respect for Black Rodeo culture and the invaluable contributions they have made to the world of rodeo. For this reason, we’ve chosen to tribute the Black Rodeo in the ‘Neon Cowboy’ music video. These organizations have provided a platform for black cowboys and cowgirls to showcase their exceptional skills and talents. These athletes have paved the way for future generations to pursue their passion for rodeo, regardless of their background or what the status quo is. We want their legacy to continue to inspire and empower individuals from all walks of life. We admire that because that is exactly what we’re intending to do with the music and art that we create.”
The twin-brother duo of Brandon and Derek Campbell released their anticipated debut EP The Kentucky Gentlemen: Vol. 1 to widespread acclaim from press including NPR Music, CMT, Wide Open Country and Billboard, who praised their “potent blend of pop, country and R&B, built around tightly-fused, unmistakable blood harmonies.” Their breakout single “Whatever You’re Up For” was hailed as “star-making stuff” by Music Row, and dubbed a “Song You Need To Know” by Rolling Stone, who called it “the most compelling commercial-country slow jam of the year.”
In the last year, The Kentucky Gentlemen have quickly established themselves as one of Nashville’s most exciting up-and-coming country acts. Recently named one of GLAAD’s “New Voices in Country Music” and a “2023 Artist To Watch” by Nashville Scene, they were also featured on Will Hoge’s latest single “Can I Be Country, Too?” and performed “Better Man” with Fancy Hagood on his Apple Music Exclusive EP. Selected as one of just five artists for WXPN’s Black Opry Residency, the pair appeared on the subsequent WXPN’s Artist To Watch podcast and performed on World Cafe. They were also chosen for the inaugural class of the OnRamp program launched by The Black Music Action Coalition and the Academy of Country Music, and this summer they were invited to perform the National Anthem at the Nashville Soccer Club.
