Nashville, Tenn. – Multi-Platinum recording artist Tim Rushlow is hosting his own weekly hour-long radio show, entitled Retro Rushlow,on 650 AM WSM that explores the similarities between country music and big band music in promotion of his seven week Big Band residency at the Nashville Palace. The program, which began October 14, airs Saturdays from 3:00AM–4:00AM (CST) and re-airs on Sundays at 3:00PM (CST). Retro Rushlow will air on subsequent Saturdays and Sundays through the end of the year. The program is also available online at wsmonline.com/listen-live.
“Retro Rushlow is the intersection of country and swing/big band music,” says Jonathan Shaffer, Show Producer and Program Director of 650 AM WSM. “We explore the similarities of the Great American Songbook (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc.) with the greatest songs and performers in country music history (Marty Robbins, Jim Reeves, Ray Price, etc.). In fact, many of our favorite crooners loved, respected, and sang country, as well. When it comes to great music and performers, Bobby Darin and Marty Robbins really are one in the same, because music is music, and one needs no further proof than what can be heard on Retro Rushlow!”
“Getting the chance to share the stories and songs from the Great American Songbook and the history of these gems on the radio airwaves with the most famous radio station ever with WSM is beyond a thrill,” Rushlow explains. “I am honored to work with Jonathan to create a fresh show and fresh take on the songs and artists that have shaped our lives for generations. There’s a reason they have stood the test of time and we’re here to show why!”
Retro Rushlow supports and promotes Rushlow’s Big Band residency at the Nashville Palace which opens on Nov. 10 and runs for 18 shows through New Year’s Eve. Click HERE to get your tickets now!
