LOS ANGELES – THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS—the only series on television dedicated to showcasing professional tribute artists—returns for an eighth season on AXS TV Wednesday, March 8 at 10pE/7pP live from historic Hollywood concert venue The Whisky A Go Go. TV personality and classic rock expert Katie Daryl hosts the 10-episode line-up, kicking off with a special, 90-minute episode featuring renowned Led Zeppelin tribute Led Zepagain, who return to perform the rock legends’ iconic album “Led Zeppelin IV” in its entirety.
Also returning to THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS this season for an epic full-album performance is acclaimed The Beatles tribute The Fab Four, who will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ groundbreaking concept album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” with a complete rendition, including full-band regalia, in the 90-minute season finale May 10.
“Some of our most popular episodes have featured tribute artists performing a classic album in its entirety, so this season, we’ve brought that idea back with the incredible Led Zepagain and The Fab Four taking on two huge albums in the season premiere and finale,” said host and producer Katie Daryl. “This season I am also excited to introduce seven new, hand-picked tributes who really impressed me with their sound and musicianship, and I am sure music fans will love.”
Continuing the live concert series’ legacy of showcasing authentic tribute bands to a national audience, this season welcomes seven newcomers from multiple genres to the series’ list of over 70 tribute bands who have added “World’s Greatest” to their name. Rounding out the month of March are three hard rockers including Southern California-native Metallica tribute Damage, Inc. returning for a special, 90-minute episode (March 15); Chicago’s ZZ Top tribute Eliminator (March 22); and Philadelphia-based Allman Brothers Band tribute Live at The Fillmore (March 29).
Also featured this season are three 70’s classic rock staples starting with a tribute to Electric Light Orchestra by Toronto’s Strange Magic (April 5), just two days before ELO is inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; then New York’s Almost Queen takes on the legendary band’s show-stopping numbers (April 12); and Toronto Supertramp tribute Dreamer brings the band’s prog-rock melodies to the stage (May 3). Introducing a bit of twang to the show, South Carolina’s Karen Hester will embody the sound and style of country superstar Dolly Parton (April 19), while Dallas-based Dave Matthews Band tribute Warehouse jams out with a classic alt-rock performance (April 26).
“We received such a huge response from fans across the nation after we appeared on THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS as part of season two,” said The Beatles tribute The Fab Four. “We can’t wait to see what everyone says after they see us perform the entire Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album for the season eight finale! It’s going to be a special night for The Beatles fans.”
“We consider it an extreme honor to be selected to perform on THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS,” said Led Zepagain. “Judging from the quality of the bands over the last seven seasons, the standards for inclusion are set very high, and to be asked back for a second performance is very flattering and a privilege to say the least!”
