A Twin Kennedy Christmas Blends Classics with Original Songs
NASHVILLE, TENN. – The award-winning duo Twin Kennedy has issued their first-ever holiday album, A Twin Kennedy Christmas. The festive project blends holiday favorites with original music, decorated with a rhythm section featuring members of the Western swing band, The Time Jumpers.
A Twin Kennedy Christmas is the first U.S. release for the Canadian duo, which is composed of twin sisters Carli and Julie Kennedy. The album kicks off with “Cold Weather,” an ode to snuggling at home on a chilly night. Lovely renditions of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and “Silent Night” are nestled among new Twin Kennedy compositions like “Snowed In,” “I’m a Child Again,” and “Not So Silent Night.” Carli and Julie Kennedy co-wrote the new material with collaborators in Canada and Nashville.
“Christmas is our favorite time of year,” said Carli and Julie Kennedy. “It has always been a dream of ours to record a Christmas album, and it was an honor to work with many of Music City’s best to create this project. We hope to become a part of our fans’ holiday celebrations every year with A Twin Kennedy Christmas!”
Twin Kennedy won the 2015 Grand Prize Award in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest’s country category for the beautiful ballad, “Secondhand Gold.” Julie Kennedy has received multiple nominations from the Canadian Country Music Association for fiddle player of the year. Meanwhile, Carli Kennedy is an accomplished guitarist who shares vocals with her sister. Following the 2015 release of their debut album, It’s a Love Thing, Twin Kennedy has appeared at festivals, listening rooms and performing arts centers across the United States and Canada.
Twin Kennedy grew up in the small city of Powell River, British Columbia, perfecting their sibling harmonies and dynamic live performances. While making their name known throughout their small community as a family band, these sisters crafted their sound through a unique fusion of country, folk, jazz and classical music. After earning degrees in music performance from the University of Victoria, the sisters have found their home in country music. They currently divide their time between Canada and Nashville.
