NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising songstress Olivia Ooms perfectly captures the angst and passion of the past year in the video for her latest single “Hideaway.” Wide Open Country exclusively premiered the video writing, “Olivia Ooms finds hope in uncertainty in powerful ‘Hideaway’ video.” The video will also debut on CMT.com next week.
Shot and directed by David Javier at The Industry Loft in Hollywood, the video features family heirlooms that Ooms pulled out of storage, including the ice cream parlor chair from her great-great-grandfather’s pharmacy and soda fountain as well as the Art Nouveau Tiffany lamp, which belonged to her great-grandmother. She liked the idea that these items, much like her true self, are no longer hiding away.
“When I decided to go ahead and shoot a music video for ‘Hideaway,’ I had a vision of something very raw and simple. It’s been such a hard time for everyone, so I wanted to portray all the emotions I’ve felt this past year, hoping it’s relatable and transparent for all,” Ooms shared with Wide Open Country.
“Hideaway” was penned by Ooms and Gabby Neeley and produced by ACM Award winner Jamie O’Neal who also provided harmonies on the track. American Songwriter exclusively premiered a first listen to the “country- and jazz-fused single.” Billboard selected “Hideaway” for First Country declaring, “Ooms has a maturity that belies her age on ‘Hideaway,’ her alluring single about not bottling up secrets. The enigmatic lyrics are wrapped around an organ bed that adds to the mystique.” The single also spent several weeks on Spotify’s New Music Nashville playlist.
Praised by the Los Angeles Times for “passionate lyrics paired with a distinctive pop-country sound,” Ooms’ emerged with her first single, “Thoughts of You,” at just 15-years-old. “Thoughts of You” landed her a spot in CMT’s Artist Discovery Program and placement as the first female country artist featured on Radio Disney’s RDYou Station. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native has opened for numerous popular acts such as Lady A and Old Dominion as well as country music icon Tanya Tucker. In 2019, Ooms was invited to perform on the Spotlight Stage during CMA Fest and also made her debut at the historic Ryman Auditorium.
