Edmonton, Alberta – Canadian country artist Martina Dawn is celebrating her newest single, “I’ll Be the Cowboy”, which is currently on all streaming platforms.

Written by Martina and fellow artist Hannah Gazso, “I’ll Be the Cowboy” was produced by JUNO Award winner Russell Broom.

As Martina’s first single of the year, the track weaves together a stripped-back country production, an introspective atmosphere, and emotive storytelling to explore empty, unfulfilling relationships and the inner courage needed to move on.

Martina says, “Hannah suggested the title, I loved it, and we built on the idea of feeling helpless in a relationship where a partner is physically available, but not emotionally present. As cowboys typically symbolize freedom and resilience, this song is about overcoming this emotional gap by ‘being the cowboy’ and bettering yourself, even if that means putting an end to the relationship.”

“I’ll Be the Cowboy” is the eighth single to date for the Devon, Alberta-based country singer and songwriter.

At 22 years old, Martina has already earned over 350K Spotify streams, had three singles in rotation on SiriusXM Top of the Country Radio, and won the Youth Horizon Award at the 2022 Country Music Alberta Awards. Her enthusiastic efforts to connect with fans online have also earned over 6 million organic social media impressions.

On stage, she has played twice at Country Thunder Alberta, as well as Big Valley Jamboree and the Country Music Alberta Awards Show.

More recently, Martina completed the 3 For 1 Tour of BC and Alberta alongside artist friends Jordyn Pollard and Beamer Wigley. She has also been supporting “I’ll Be the Cowboy” with recent performances at the Ponoka Stampede, the Lethbridge Canada Day celebration, and Taste of Edmonton.

With more new music planned for Martina, “I’ll Be the Cowboy” is the latest showcase of her true-to-life storytelling. She wants fans to feel its relevance.

She says, “It is strong and brave to leave something you love so much that isn’t working anymore, and it’s just as important to lift our friends up who are in similar circumstances and encourage them to be their own cowboys.”

“I’ll Be the Cowboy” is on all streaming platforms.
