When one thinks about the personification of a good ole country boy, Billy Currington comes to mind. His good looks, down to Earth nature, and songs that range from fun to steamy are just a few reasons why he’s our #MCM this week!
1. Those Baby Blues: They say the eyes are the window to a person’s soul, and Currington’s eyes lead us into a beautiful blue abyss. They are so piercing and captivating that it’s practically impossible to look away!
2. His Hair: Those boyish locks add to Currington’s appeal, and we’d be lying if we didn’t admit that we want to run our fingers through those curls!
3. That Physique: While his eyes and hair give Currington the cute boy-next-door look, his toned body is just…well…hot. His beach body isn’t all that much of a surprise, considering Currington was a personal trainer before his singing career took off.
Don’t believe us? Check out his music video for “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right.” And if you still need convincing, the video won the CMT Award for “Hottest Video of the Year” in 2006.
4. The guy can lead a party, soothe a breaking heart, and turn up the heat: With fun upbeat hits like “That’s How Country Boys Roll,” “People Are Crazy,” “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer” and “Good Directions,” Currington’s concerts are instant karaoke parties as everyone sings along loud and proud.
But he’s not just a party boy. Currington’s talent is very versatile; his catalog proves that he can go from being the life of a party, to singing with his heart on his sleeve (such as “Let Me Down Easy” where he pleads his case to the woman who has his heart, but knows it may be a one-way street, and his most recent single “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To” about life after the end of a relationship) and then lay it down for the ladies. “Don’t” and the aforementioned “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right” are two of the most is-it-getting-hot-in-here, come hither songs out there.
5. The guy’s got soul!: Like other performers, Currington is known to sing covers in concert, especially Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and “Treasure.” But he has also paid tribute to those who have inspired him along the way, including Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On,” and as an homage to his home state, Ray Charles’ “Georgia On My Mind.”
Watch below as Currington’s Georgia pride shines through in this performance at the 2016 “Georgia On My Mind” concert hosted by The Peach Pickers in Nashville:
Thank God for Billy Currington…and turnip greens…
