Brothers Osborne Show Soft Side With “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)”

Brothers Osborne, the brother duo who have traipsed onto the country music scene with guns blazing, have released their latest single; a more tapered and uncharacteristic number than what fans are used to.  “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)” is the second release off their sophomore album, Port Saint Joewhich debuted at number two on the country chart with rebel rousing tunes such as the lead single Shoot Me Straight.”

Co-written by the brothers, Shane McAnally, and Matt Dragstrem, the song poignantly questions the past of the storyteller who’s now been reformed by love.  Somber tender vocals served up by TJ and creative writing brings forth a reminiscent vision of one’s past:

Did I stop and watch the sunset fade?
What gave me life and took my breath away?
Did I take a last-call stranger home
So I wouldn’t have to wake up alone?

I heard I was a wild one
I feel like a child, son
But I really don’t recall
Heard I was a fast one
Always was last one
Waitin’ for the other shoe to fall
I’ve seen pictures
And I’ve heard stories
‘Bout the boy I used to be
But I don’t remember me

A far drop in stature of the rock anthemic tunes of its predecessors, “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)” has left some critics with negativity.  But, what it may fair in stature is made up in the quality of TJ’s vocals and his ability to pull off such a tender ballad.

Before kicking off their 2019 headlining US and Canada tour in January, the duo will perform six shows in the UK in November and early December.
