Codie Prevost is a household name and a mega country star in his native Canada, and now he’s ready to make a name for himself right here on American soil. This Canadian country cutie has quite the load of accolades under his belt, including a four-time Canadian Country Music Association Nominee and the recipient of 26 Saskatchewan Country Music Awards including “Entertainer Of The Year” and “Male Vocalist”. Along with awards, Prevost has also shared the stage with country stars Garth Brooks, Florida Georgia Line, Joe Nichols, Jason Aldean, Big & Rich, and Neal McCoy. He’s toured internationally, performing in France, USA, and recently Australia (Tamworth Country Music Festival, Plantation Music Festival & Gympie Music Muster).
His love for music started when Prevost got his first guitar at the age of fourteen and he’s been on the incline ever since. He wrote songs and learned to play by listening to his mom and uncle. Once he developed his steady guitar playing skills, he continued with his songwriting, participating in competitions and eventually forming a band, who covered mainly punk.
After years of competitions and going from bar to bar, Prevost decided to record an album. He’s released two LP’s- The Road Ahead (2005) and Get Loud (2010) and an EP Spin – 6 Pak Vol 1 (2017) – under his own label Good Spirit Records. His most recent album, All Kinds Of Crazy, received “Country Recording Of The Year” at the 2014 Western Canadian Music Awards. Now with his fifth studio album Radio, produced by Jeff Johnson and Jesse Weimar, set to release this fall, Prevost has been out performing his newest single “You Won’t Sleep Tonight”, which launched May 29, 2017.
The mid-tempo tune, co-written by Prevost and Adam Wheeler, touches on the subject of the life of a weary road traveler who misses the one he loves at home. With cute sexy lyrics, he sings to his girl about how things are gonna go down once he gets home:
Two hundred miles, I’m counting down
Ya I’m on that home stretch now
Get on the phone, cancel your plans
Once I get you in my hands
You won’t sleep tonight, oh no
I’ll keep you up til the morning light
You won’t sleep tonight, oh no
Been gone too long now I’m gonna make it right
Girl your man’s been missing you
I’ll be fixing that real soon
So go enjoy the sound of that quiet house
You won’t sleep tonight
Great guitar, drum beat, and background vocals make “You Won’t Sleep Tonight” a fun, easy-listening song.
He’s won awards in Canada, and perhaps with songs like this, he’ll start making his mark here.
