Every cloud has a silver lining, even when that cloud is finding out your significant other cheated on you. But it’s that silver lining that powers Dianna Corcoran through in her new single “Thank You For Cheating On Me.” Instead of sulking or proclaiming a “Hell hath no fury as a women scorned” battle cry, Corcoran sings about the positive side of her newly-found freedom from her unfaithful ex.
But the song isn’t all sun and rainbows – Corcoran calls him out for what he is in the first verse:
You hurt me and you burned me and you took me and turned me
Into a broken down wild stallion
My cryin’; and your lyin’; and your constant denyin’;
Yea I lived it till the moment you were bailin’;
After getting that out of her system, she joyfully sings about how she’s living her free life, doing what she wants to do without his weight holding her down. And then there is “him.” Yes, the new love in her life who seems to be the exact opposite of her ex; a fact that she happily rubs in his face:
He’s cuter and he’s smarter
And he works a lot harder
And he’s actually got a real job
My family and my friends all love him
Can’t get enough of him
He’s such a drop-dead heartthrob
In a final statement, Corcoran warns her ex of the inevitable regret of cheating on her when he sees her with her new man, while she’s out living her new wonderful life.
Besides the catchy, witty lyrics, “Thank You For Cheating On Me” allows Corcoran to showcase her melodic and wide vocal range, especially in her higher register. Towards the end of the song, Corcoran goes all out, hitting notes that are so high they seem to go up to the stratosphere, while doing it so effortlessly.
“Thank You For Cheating On Me” can currently be heard on country radio and is featured on Corcoran’s recent album In America, which is available on all outlets.
