Following his recent number one single “Somewhere on a Beach,” Dierks Bentley has collaborated with acclaimed newcomer Elle King to tackle “Different For Girls,” a dynamic number from a female perspective.
Chronicling a post-break up state of mind from a girl’s context, Bentley and King air the discrepancies on how each processes heartache – guys can act tough, push their discomfort down and continue ahead, while girls need time to process their tenderness; they can’t just progress to the next relationship. When heartsick there is no straightforward fix for girls, they can’t impersonate love didn’t ever occur.
She don’t sleep all day and leave the house a wreck
She don’t have the luxury to let herself go
She won’t call just to curse from a wall, she can push
When the going gets tough, yeah, the guys they can just act tough
Dierks commissioned the perfect duet partner for “Different for Girls” to help convey all the sentiments that are tied into this single. A perfect blend of two voices, Dierks strong, deep voice mixed with Elle’s angelic, rare, soulful style. Elle grasps the misery and despair girls withstand flawlessly.
“Different for Girls” draws in and associates with all those girls who are familiar with loss of love and couldn’t resolve how to forge ahead. Love is not uncomplicated and this song shows how it is truly a contrasting experience for the fairer sex.
Released on Capitol Nashville, “Different for Girls” is the second single from Bentley’s 2016 album BLACK. Read our review of the album here.
