Massachusetts-bred singer-songwriter Timmy Brown has made himself a fan favorite around the New England area playing local events and restaurants. He’s auditioned for all the major talent shows, including American Idol (Season 14), where he was selected as a contestant. Once the audition was over, Brown was offered a lead singing gig for Black Diamond, a local band that now goes by the Timmy Brown Band.
Brown released his debut EP Leave This Town in April of 2016; an album that featured a heavy weight production team that had worked with country royalty like Kenny Chesney and Luke Bryan. He’s opened for multiple artists from Kane Brown, Kip Moore, to Cam and Jimmie Allen, to name a few. With success from its first single “Lil Bit,” Brown followed up with “Fly Away,” a tribute to his late grandmother. Today, Brown released his debut album titled Good Life, produced by Josh Gleave who also shares songwriting credits on several tunes.
The strong vocals and smooth harmonies of “Summer Of Us“ detail the remembrance of a teenage summer fling with well written lyrics that create a visually appealing love on the beach story, making it a popular, lit up cell phone concert tune. The album’s latest single “Nothing To See Here” is another strong track with its traditional country sound of steel and steady drumbeat, detailing the aftermath a relationship has, when loneliness of one is hoping for a rekindling of sorts, but realizes the other has moved on.
The album has an equal amount of slower tender hearted tunes like “If You Were Here,” a previous single with a bittersweet ode to Brown’s grandma and everything she meant to her family. “Wish You Knew Me Better” is another slowed down number with tender vocals of a lover who doesn’t believe his partner is not in sync, thus wishing he was more understood. Both will pull at the heartstrings.
“That’s How We Drink Here” is a more uptempo number with a little steel and steady drum beats, creating a calypso vibe. The fun, flirty tune details how a local town gathering can start small, but always ends up a party, making this an infectious, singalong song.
“Play It By Beer“ and the title track “Good Life” are both cleverly written with messages of slowing down and taking things one step at a time and enjoying everyday life in an area where the places and people make you feel your best.
The album’s 11 tracks are written with experiences in love, friendship, and momentous occasions that make up the ups and downs in everyday life. With skillful writing, tenderhearted vocals, and masterful production, these tunes will allow the listeners to relate to the stories.
