It’s ‘Miller Time’ For Alex Miller

At only 18 years of age, singer-songwriter Alex Miller already has 10+ years into a career that has been going non-stop since he started at age 7, performing in local venues before moving onto large venues, like Dolby Theater, Lucas Oil Stadium, and Renfro Valley.  Since his days on Season 19 of American Idol, the Lancaster, KY native has graced the stage at The Ryman, five State Fairs, and has opened for Hank Williams, Jr., Josh Turner, and Lee Brice. This Friday, April 29, Miller checks off another career marker with the release of his debut album Miller Time.

Miller has kept to his traditional country roots, in which he sings like an old soul, yet this baby-faced teen is far from what he appears.  His notoriety has pushed him into immediate stardom with the fan base to follow.  He’s released two singles, “Don’t Let The Barn Door Hit Ya,” and the latest, “Through With You,” both appearing on Miller Time.

The 10-track album is equal parts fun and heartache.  Take the first single “Don’t Let The Barn Door Hit Ya.”  This adorable, comical tune, fueled by a little fiddle and steel, creates an atmosphere likened to a little square dancing in the barn.  His delivery is spot on and the deeper end of his register shows he’s made for it.

Perfectly spaced within the tracks fall a few more up-tempo, western classic tunes.  “I’m Over You, So Get Over Me” is an old school, shoe-shufflin’ number with Miller making any breakup seem effortless; basically saying the relationship is done, so move on. Then there’s “Freeborn Man,” a song in which Miller gets to showcase a more bluesy ballad amped up with a fiery fiddle and steel blazing instrumentation in a classic western style boot stomping number.

Along the amped up tracks are tenderhearted ballads that make the 18-year old wise beyond his years.  “Through With You,” co-written by Miller and the album’s current single, is a ballad of a broken relationship and the work it takes to carry on. Miller’s smooth reverent vocals show that this young man has the vocals to stick with the best of them.  “Boys In Uniform” is a sober, somber tune of boys readying for war to become men and fight for freedom.  This military remembrance song featuring Miller’s impeccable vocals aided with background vocals sends the chills down your back.

Miller Time is a well written, well produced package of greatness and it’s one that will reach wide audiences.  Go download it and enjoy yourselves!  You won’t be disappointed.
