Twenty-seven year old Kylie Rothfield started writing songs at just 12 years old after she penned and performed her first full length song, thus creating a love for the craft. The Illinois-born, California-raised singer-songwriter’s talent earned her an early admission to the Berklee College of Music. With the obvious musical gift, Kylie moved to Nashville in the spring of 2012 and sat in on songwriters rounds, took gigs here and there, eventually selling out premier venues. Industry heavyweights like Victoria Shaw (Christina Aguilera and Garth Brooks) took notice, as well as other GRAMMY winning professionals, eventually leading to an invite from Irish Legend Dominic Kirwin to open for him and Joey & Rory on their tour in Scotland.
In 2016 Kylie auditioned for Season 11 of NBC’s The Voice, going as far as the Top 20. She has over 1 million combined streams on Spotify and Apple Music for two independent releases and was seen on Season Two of NBC’s Songland where she pitched a song she’d written to Ester Dean, Ryan Tedder, and Shane McAnally. Now back in LA, Kylie has just released her single “Too Late” – a pop tune with a tone of self doubt, wonderment, and the what if’s of one’s path to success.
Oh maybe I’m too late
And I’ve had too many chances
Or maybe I can wait
A little longer if it happens
I’m being honest
Maybe it’s not the life I wanted
Just everything I ever really needed
Oh I wish it wasn’t killing me inside
Oh maybe I’m too late
The beat is smooth and easy to listen to, and her vocals have the tonal equivalent of Colbie Callait: warm and paints the perfect picture of one strolling through life. The video for the single depicts various scenes from a younger Kylie performing.
The instrumentation is soft and subtle thus allowing Kylie’s voice to shine where both blend nicely into this pop-leaning single. She makes it all seem effortless, from the self-doubt of making her wishes a dream come true, to the obvious talent she possesses, this girl, no doubt, will flourish, never to question if it’s “too late”!
