There are certain songs that aren’t released to radio, but take on a life of their own when routinely played during a show, becoming a fan favorite. “She Got The Best of Me” by Luke Combs is one of those songs. Thankfully he and his team recognized that it needed wings to fly and with the release of the deluxe edition of his debut album titled This One’s for You, Too it got them. The 17-track album includes five new songs, many of which Combs has been playing at shows throughout his career.
“She Got The Best of Me” is a powerful ballad that showcases Combs’ emotionally-rich voice combined with a video that takes us through the heartbreak of losing your life’s love.
Seventeen, you don’t think that much about life
You just live it
Like Kerosene dancing around a fire
But you’re in it
So you jump right in
Ain’t afraid to fall
And you give it all
She got the best of me
She broke my heart
Now all that’s left of me
Is beating in this guitar
Every night, a different town
She follows me around
So you get what’s left of me
She got the best of me
Combs’ diehard fans, Bootleggers as they are affectionately known, will be excited to see if they can catch the Easter Eggs hidden throughout the music video. Combs tweeted “It’s a trip down memory lane & shows how far we’ve come over the past few years. There are a lot of Easter eggs that I think y’all will enjoy finding. Let me know what yall think!”
“She Got the Best of Me” was written by Combs, Rob Snyder and Channing Wilson. While Combs vocals breathe life into the heartache, the melodic instruments expands the experience for everyone who hears it.
