Morgan Wallen Celebrates His Southern Upbringing with “The Way I Talk”

It’s been a whirlwind ride for Tennessee native Morgan Wallen since appearing on Season 6 of NBC’s The Voice, and now the newly signed Big Loud Records artist is embarking on sending his first single, “The Way I Talk,” to country radio.

The catchy tune, written by Chase McGill, tells the story of pride and ownership of where you come from.  With a huskiness, albeit sweetness in his voice, Wallen touches on his southern dialect in a fun and endearing way:

“It sounds a little bit like my daddy / And don’t cuss around my mama / Got some words you never heard unless you come from down yonder / The man upstairs gets it, so I ain’t trying to fix it / No I can’t hide it, I don’t fight it, I just roll with it / Oh-oh, kind of slow like the Mississippi rolls / It’s the only way I know / Man it ain’t my fault / I just live the way I talk.”

Subtle guitar riffs open the song and remain throughout as Wallen’s voice stays strong from verse to his slight vocal incline into the chorus.  The beat is steady yet contagious – it’s that beat, plus Wallens organic vocals, that make this debut infectious, sure to be making heavy rotation in the near future.
