Kenny Chesney continues to instill wanderlust in his fans with his latest single, “Bar at the End of the World.” The song is off his newest album, Cosmic Hallelujah, which has so far released two other singles, “Noise” and “Setting the World on Fire.”
Written by J.T. Harding, Aimee Mayo and David Lee Murphy, “Bar at the End of the World” fits right in with Chesney’s brand. Like his other songs, “Bar at the End of the World” sets the scene of a faraway island, where you’re surrounded by palm trees and have checked your troubles at the door. The lyrics are romantic and make you feel as if he’s letting you in on the world’s best kept secret. Right away we’re all ears when Chesney begins with:
There’s a trail of smoke comin’ out of a bottle
If you look real close, you can see it right there
A little tin roof bar down a path you have to follow
From a treasure map with the edges burnt from a few too many beers
“Bar at the End of the World” fits perfectly within the post-apocalyptic theme of Chesney’s 17th album, which was made to help listeners escape the current stresses of our world. In an interview with EW, Chesney spoke to the song being about escapism and wanting to just disappear somewhere as far as possible – something a little too relatable at times.
Despite the song’s familiarity, it is incredibly catchy and helps ease our winter blues. Crank up the volume and be transported by Chesney’s smooth voice and incredible story-telling ability. Trust us, you’ll be playing this song, and many of Chesney’s other beach classics, well into the dog days of summer.
“Bar at the End of the World” and the rest of Cosmic Hallelujah are available for purchase and download now.
