British singer/songwriter Sasha McVeigh found her love of country music while dancing to CMT on her family’s coffee table. Singing and performing for her family from a young age and writing songs by the time she was 12, she carved out her own niche in the genre.
Sharing the stage with country music’s Hunter Hayes and Cole Swindell at The Academy of Country Music Awards, McVeigh has also performed at some of the biggest festivals around the country that included megastars like Luke Bryan, Eric Church and Jason Aldean, proof that her years of traveling across the pond to Nashville were exactly what she needed to get her foot in the door.
McVeigh has scored another success with her latest single “Rock Bottom,” a nod to how the hard times build the character you need in the good times:
Hey rock bottom, how ya been
Ya know I built my life on you
Now I’m stronger than I was back then.
It’s good to see you, I must confess
You’ve seen me at my worst
Now you’re the first to see me at my best
So pour me a drink and I’ll stay a while
Put on those same sad song, to hide my smile
You’ve been a devil, you’ve been a friend
Hey Rock Bottom, how ya been
“Rock Bottom” was inspired by a J.K. Rowling quote that reads: “Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life,” which McVeigh found it on Pinterest. Written by McVeigh and produced by Mark Lambert, the lyrics are the star of the show with a beautiful supporting cast of a steel guitar traditional country music rhythms. It is truly unmistakable country.
The official music video for “Rock Bottom” is set to premiere on YouTube on August 8. Click the link below to set a reminder so you don’t miss it!
