It’s unbelievably catchy and rather infectious. It’s fun. It’s also written by Jesse Frasuer and hit-makers Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay and pop princess Meghan Trainor. And much like the title, “I Like the Sound of That” is a song that will be one you look forward to coming across your iPod or radio station.
The fourth single off of their #1 album Rewind, Rascal Flatts is combining staples of their signature style with a more contemporary appeal. Lyrically the song is typical to what can be heard on country radio, but it’s in a light-hearted and refreshing manner, a nice juxtaposition to previous serious singles ‘Riot’ and ‘Rewind’. With the untouchable vocals of Gary Levox, Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus really making the song, the hooky chorus is simple yet harmonious:
It’s a little too loud on the highway
I wanna pull back in your driveway
It’s way too quiet at my place
Wanna come on over, come on over
I just wanna hear that ringtone
I like it turned up when you’re blowin’ up my phone
Wanna hear you say come on over
‘Cause when you tell me to come on over
I like the sound of that
It’s a simple but lovely song, one that is predicted to become a favorite at radio. Take a listen below and let us know what you think.
